This is a full-time position for the Choctaw Nation Healthcare Center's Pharmacy in Talihina | You will be eligible for weekly earned wage access
Job Purpose or Objective(s): Review and interpret prescriptions to ensure safety, efficacy and appropriateness and maintains compliance with all regulatory requirements. You will report to the Director.
Primary Tasks:
Review prescriptions issued by physicians or other authorized prescribers to assure accuracy and determine formulas and ingredients needed.
Review and monitor drug therapy that requires dosing adjustments as authorized by the physician.
Compound medications using standard formulas and processes such as weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients.
Monitor all posting onto the patient profile in order that accuracy, drug allergies, drug interactions, duplicate therapy, rational drug therapy and incompatibilities may be realized and better patient care received.
Enter data into the computer system such as patient, prescribed medications and cost and maintains patient profiles and charge system.
Check patient medication cassettes before delivery to patient care areas to check that the correct drug, dosage form, schedule and strength are being dispensed.
Answer questions and provide information to physicians, nurses, patients and other health care professionals on the appropriate use of medications, drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and storage. Addresses complaints and resolves problems.
Perform activities such as: medication reviews, performance improvement projects, and presentations to staff as assigned.
Perform other responsibilities as may be assigned.
Required Education and Experience:
College degree in Pharmacy required.
Current Pharmacy License required.
Respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the hospital staff.
Apply mathematical operations to such tasks as dosage calculations, formulation of pharmaceutical preparations and data analysis.
Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Interpret technical instructions and deal with several abstract variables.
One year experience.
