Firefighter - McAlester Wildland Module

Job Purpose or Objective(s): You will be a member of a Wildland Fire Module. Your primary responsibility is to assist with hazardous fuel reduction projects and wildland fire suppression. You will report to the Wildland Fire Senior Firefighter.
Payrate: $15.95 per hour | Hourly, Full Time | Schedule and Hours: 7:30am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday with Saturday and Sunday OFF | Must be available to work nights, weekends, and holidays.| WEEKLY EARNED WAGE ACCESS IS AN OPTION FOR THIS POSITION | This position will require extensive travel, and will be housed in McAlester, OK. |
Primary Tasks:
You will perform basic fire line activities such as line construction, hose layout, operations of pumps and accessories, lopping and scattering of fuels using hand tools and holding, patrolling, monitoring, and mop-up operations. Move dirt, chop brush, small trees to construct fireline.
Observe the rules of wildland firefighting safety. Apply practices and techniques to minimize resource damage.
Use a variety of specialized tools, equipment, and techniques while suppressing wildfires, such as a Pulaski, shovel, McLeod, ax and chainsaw during prescribed burning, hazardous fuels, and wildland fire suppression activities.
Be an experienced wildland firefighter on an organized module during prescribed burns and controlling the fire and collecting data on fire weather and fire behavior. Also, as a member of a module/crew, performs project work such as fuel inventory and hazard fuel reduction projects.
You will ensure equipment and tools are maintained and ready for service.
Maintain arduous qualifications by completing the Work Capacity Test.
Perform firefighting responsibilities
Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements:
Firefighter II
Complete arduous qualifications by completing the Work Capacity Test.
Capable to exert or lift 75 lbs. of force.
Have a valid Oklahoma Driver's License.
