Job Purpose or Objective(s) : As the Agriculture Resource Programs Supervisor, you will oversee the collection and reporting of all (cattle, pecan, and wildlife) agricultural related performance, operational and financial data to different partners. You will be accountable for improving enterprise efficiency and operational development, natural resource stewardship, animal husbandry, reporting, and communication with leadership and focus for the benefit of the Choctaw Nation mission. You will report to the Executive Director of Agriculture.
Primary Tasks :
Coordinate resource (i.e., cattle & pecans) handling/harvest and collect and share all requested records in raw or electronic form.
Manage and inventory the collection and auditing of all resources (i.e., hay, forage, cattle, pharmaceutical, equipment, pecans). Conduct forecasting, achieving, and dispatching any deficiencies to specific ranches following operational demands.
Manage the ground truthing and development of ranch operational plans to include forage allowance, grazing plans, fencing designs, annual plantings, fertilizer application and invasive vegetation control.
Conduct due diligence to develop important operational, performance and financial (i.e., performance indicators, SOP’s, incentive plans) benchmarking metrics.
Implement progressive beef cattle supply chain management through curriculum development, continued training, education, and certifications (i.e., BQA, AI, ultrasound, and software) for all livestock support staff.
Record raw data to database software and perform statistical assessments to assist with data-driven decision-making.
Conduct annual performance evaluations for all ranch and farm staff.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
Master’s degree in appropriate field of study (i.e., animal science, agronomy, range management)
2 years’ experience record-keeping skills, and applicable education
Proficiency in computer navigational and software applications (i.e., Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)
2 years’ experience hands-on experience related to diversified cattle management (i.e., cow/calf; backgrounding and stocker enterprises)
Awareness, appreciation, and experience with wildlife/orchard management, grazing systems, and vegetation modification through mechanical, chemical, and prescribed fire principles
Ability to communicate with ranch staff, university researchers and allied industry practitioners.
